IMPROMPTU is moving from Kip marina to her new home at Oban boats, Kerrera.
Having never taken a boat through the Crinan or the Caledonian...do I need a 'lock Key '.
For everyones information Impromptu is a Contessa 32.

Hi Karl,
A quick answer is, no key required! Just turn up at the entrance, pay and go.
Go to www.waterscape.com and pick you way through the site, you will eventually come across a downloadable skippers guide. This tells you everything you need to know.
From personal experience, I would say get there first thing in the morning and expect to take the whole day. If you are the only boat going through take a crew of six. That worked really well the last time I went through and makes it easy and fun. One on the helm, one on the bow line, one on the stern line, two operating the lock you are in and one running ahead to prepare the next lock.
Have a great day (if you haven't done it already).
See also my pics from the last trip through from the gallery.
Regards,
David
